Mikes Writing

it's a morning

Writing in the dark when mornings start seems a favorite time. Outside after about 5am people start getting their Cambodian days going. I have never understood since many of them don't work. Why start early? When I worked it wasn't optional since I worked with global teams so I had an influx of messages and email.

Now it's morning music and talking. And for me it's writing. Writing my morning spin. Wanting to let the journal go on as it wants. No word counts. No bullets. Just me. Writing the blog lets me start now with little things knowing I'll catch you up when I go for coffee. Like now. I'd like some coffee time.

The Street Coffee beckons

One of the nicer Khmer coffee houses. I prefer these to going to places like Starbucks or other larger chains. There is this sense of local life here.

Wonderful mornings start better with a first walk and then coffee out. Lately it feels like I need to just go more. So I just listen.

For the first time in some time I had nice sleep. Felt good waking up. Found out I could get iOS 27. On my iPhone 13 not sure what it means but I’ll take it. I’ll be using this phone until I don’t get major upgrades. Then another older iPhone. Never will do Android again. After some time with an oppo phone it was like okay. That’s enough of that. I’ll take this garden.

I’ve been thinking a lot since seeing my daughter yesterday about this desire I’ve been feeling to go live in Kampot for longer. I’d like a month there.

Today is one of those beautiful warm and sunny days. The walking already felt good. I’ll go find more places after the morning coffee and my time enjoying being here versus there.

Well my little iPhone 13 finished doing its work with iOS 27. Not gonna be much different. Don’t use ai stuff at all and this phone would not do it anyways. There is kind of a new visual look to things I guess.
